The camera fades in from black on the lush green fields of Greenwich, Connecticut. The ritzy shops and the huge mansions in the background are a small precursor to the real trophy of the wrestling industry…Titan Towers. The imposing structure sits quiet in the northeastern night, having finished another day of sports entertainment. As the cameraman pans down the tall building into the empty parking lot, his lens picks up a grey Aston Martian V12 Vanquish sitting in a front parking space, engine running. The camera zooms in to see Lucas Fox sitting in car, on his cell phone. He cuts the engine off and gets out of the car, laughing. He notices the camera and nods quickly. The cameras’ microphone is able to pick up the last of the conversation.
Lucas Fox: ….In all seriousness, I truly do appreciate this, Stephanie……absolutely!... .Well, that’s between you and Paul isn’t it?....(laughing)….no, I don’t mean THAT! I mean….exactly….oh my god, that was four years ago!....Yeah, yeah. How far are you?.....Oh, that’s not so bad…..Yeah, I miss her, too. I’ll see you when you get here. Thanks again. Bye.
Lucas closes his cell phone and approaches the camera. He smiles warmly and takes out from his inside pocket a picture of him posing with a little girl in a hospital. A faint sad smile creeps across his lips and he begins to speak in whispered tones
Lucas Fox: Christy Boyle. Such a beautiful girl…and stronger than I ever could be. She was the first person to ever ask me for my autograph when I started in Wrestling Federation. She was the first person ever to by my t-shirt and the first to come to the ring when I won my first and only wrestling championship in federation with audience of fifty people. This picture was taken when she was 13 years old. She was my first fan.
She had been diagnosed with leukemia about three years ago. I was there with her when she went through her first radiation session. It was there that she showed me one of her many wrestling magazines. It had an article about the ICW. She said, with a twinkle in her brown eyes, that if I could main event there, I would truly show the world that I am a superstar, that I posses heart that never stops beating. I really liked that tag line. I took it and made it my own, and Christy loved every interview, every promo I performed because I used that line and she knew that I was thinking about her. That was when I got call from ICW After I cut my introductory interview for ICW, I was so excited to call Christy and let her know that I had finally made it to the big time…
Lucas walks and motions for the camera to follow him. He walks over to a wooden bench and sits down. The cameraman sits, a little distance away and refocuses to see a tear streaming down Fox’s cheek. He sniffles and pulls a handkerchief out of his pants pocket and dabs his eyes and continues.
Lucas Fox: That’s when I learned that she had passed from this mortal coil and had returned to Christ in heaven. It cut me to the quick. As I am sure you have noticed, I have been spending a lot of time in the Midwest. It was to be close to her family…and to refocus.
You see, Christy and girls like her, like Phoenix, Bella Luna, Emma Chase ARE the revolution. Women who are strong willed, intelligent and yes, even a little arrogant. Women like that shape history. They bring kings to their knees, they send a thousand ships to flight…they become myth and legend. I have been given a gift in ICW and that was to face Emma Chase she reminded me Christy, also I realized that I have gift being great at wrestling. I am not a great male wrestler; I am a great wrestler, period. I know that I am on a losing streak, but so is Walker Sullivan and just as I believe in him retaining the belt at Last Man Standing…. I believe I can win the Endless Battle Royal. That makes you think. Lucas Fox, World Heavyweight Champion.
Lucas closes his eyes and shudders a little
Lucas Fox: Has a nice ring to it, no? My only regret is that Christy won’t be here physically to see me compete. Her parents will be in the audience and that will be motivation enough. I won’t let them down. I…
As Lucas is about to continue with his remarks, a black BMW pulls into the parking lot. Getting out of the car is a very familiar face, Paul Lévesque, also known as Triple H of World Wrestling Entertainment. He is wearing jeans and his new t-shirt, which is available on WWE. shop.com. He walks around and opens the door and being helped out of the car is Stephanie McMahon. She is wearing a black dress and very comfortable shoes. She smiles to Triple H and kisses him on the cheek. They both walk over to Lucas and all three of them embrace.
Lucas Fox: I really appreciate this, guys.
Stephanie: Not at all, Luke. You know I wouldn’t leave you out in the cold…besides, Hunter wanted to know if you were going to actually wrestle in this…what is it again, a Endless Battle Royal match?
Triple H: Yeah, I did. It’s great and all that you are going for this World Championship, but this Battle Royal? I called Byson myself to find out where the hell he came up with this idea. Isn’t this a little dangerous?
Lucas Fox: No more dangerous than Hell in a Cell with Mick Foley, Paul.
Triple H (Smirking): I guess not. Steph, are you going to be ok driving back home and all?
Stephanie: Don‘t worry, Hunter . I’ll be fine. You and Shawn shouldn’t miss your flight, if he gets here in the next five to ten minutes. I’ll call you when I get home, ‘k?
Lucas Fox: I promise I will take care of her.
Stephanie kisses Hunter again and takes the keys as another car pulls up. Lucas and Stephanie walk to the Titan Towers, the ICW camera right behind them. They all pile into an elevator and go up to floor thirty-five. As the door opens, the lights come on revealing the WWE Hall of Fame. Lucas walks around for a bit looking at the members of Hall of Fame and faces the camera again and speaks slowly.
Lucas Fox: Battle Royal. Just saying that name sounds like everyone in attendance and everyone competing has a shot at greatness. It sounds like a person, an underdog even, can come out on top. It sounds like new legends and hall of fame careers can be cemented there. It sounds like a perfect place for a coronation. At Last Man Standing, the ‘Heart that never stops Beating’…
At saying that, Lucas seems to catch himself. The tears return and this time, his composure fails. he cries. Through the tears, his strength of character shows as he continues.
Lucas Fox: …will remember the laughter, the ridicule…the wrestler wannabe remarks. No place for you in this world remarks. The Rockstar will remember the little boys and girls who look up to him, who hound him every week asking for autographs. He will remember the children who say ‘you’re my Idol.
Lucas composes himself now. He is spent, the camera can tell, but yet she continues still.
Lucas Fox: I will remember it all. I will look back in the annals of history and remember great man who redefined the sport. Man like Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, Owen Hart Man who have done so much and yet have never had a chance to prove that they could be the best in the world. They had big hearts, but my heart will never stop breathing until I win the World Heavyweight championship. Like it or not, I am in the Battle Royal. I am good enough to stand with the likes of a Thumbtack Jack and Daniel Fenrir. I am good enough to defeat them in the middle of the ring. I am good enough to be World Heavyweight Champion. I walk here through Hall of Fame and I realize that Royal Rumble was the beginning of legends, I will win our version of Royal Rumble and go to the Main Event of Summerbrawl. If I have to suffer through a thousand holds, I will! If I have to endure the violent fury of each man and woman in this match, I'll do it gladly! If I have to pick myself up again and again and again until my enemies begin asking themselves if they're capable of keeping me down at all, I'll do that because that's why I'm here! Everyone else can doubt me until the sun falls out of the sky, but here, RIGHT HERE, I know I've got what it takes! I know I can walk into the Battle Royal and walk out as the man.
Lucas starts to head to the elevator
Lucas Fox: Now I’m sure all of my opponents will come up with snappy one-liners and the like ‘’ You don‘t belong here, go back to music‘’, but it really won’t make a difference. I will walk into Battle Royal with a hope and a dream…. And my coronation will happen in the end. You can like it or love it, but don’t, even for one second, doubt it. …all hail, ladies and gents. All hail. I will see you all at Last Man Standing. Until then….You can think, how to stop heart that never stops beating!
The elevator door opens where Stephanie is standing holding a replica of the ICW World Heavyweight Championship. Lucas looks to the camera and says, ‘Damn this will look good on me.’ They head toward Fox's car. Lucas helps Stephanie into her passenger side and then turns on the car. 'King of Kings' by Motorhead blairs out of the car's speakers. Lucas smirks at the camera, closes the vertical door and then tears off as the screen fades to black.
