Brief bio/history: If you asked Emma, she always would have sworn that her earliest memories were of watching her father, "The Calgary Cowboy" George Chase, wrestle on TV in the living room of the family ranch in Alberta. The folly here, of course, was that at the time, Emma was so young that there was no way she could have remembered the regular family ritual. Born to George and his high school sweetheart, Emma never wanted for anything, and despite having both older and younger brothers never felt at all like the middle child. In fact, she so fondly recalled her siblings that her retelling of these tender family moments always included the details that her older brother Timothy would be holding her while they sat on the carpet and watched the broadcasts of their father from whatever far away destination south in America or off the continent that the program was being broadcast from. Nothing good could last forever, though.
George's career meant almost everything to him. It came second only to one thing, his family. He gave up chances and opportunities to be with his wife for the births of all three of their children and made every effort to never miss birthdays and to have the family with him for holidays. It was taxing, but as important as wrestling was, and as much as he excelled at it, being a family man was an unexpectedly wonderful pursuit in his eyes. He was the first one to admit that it was his career that changed everything, though. Just, it wasn't the usual sort of problem. He didn't cheat, leave, or emotionally neglect his wife and children. In fact, it was his attempt to bring the family closer together that shattered them, at least for a time.
It was an accident while his wife and children were on the road with him that made all the difference. She died, so did their younger son. George had to make a choice then. Continue to work to support his surviving son and daughter, or stop working and coast on the fame he had built to spend more time with the children. But, he was at the height of his popularity and unsure of his options if he were to leave the business, so Tim and Emma were sent to live with their grandparents in Vancouver. Checks from their father came constantly, money and gifts to make up for his absence, and for the new found pain that he found himself experiencing every time he tried to be around his children. Pain and suffering aside, it became even harder for George to find the time to devote to his children as his popularity reached further astronomical heights.
All of this aside, Emma managed to grow up with a relatively well informed sensibility about her father and the things that he did for them. Hell, she even idolized him for what she considered the sacrifices that he made for them. Out of the two surviving Chase children, Tim tended to be the "brainier" of the two and Emma was always anxiously looking for the next opportunity for a cheap thrill. She wasn't a stupid girl, but she dealing with her own mother's mortality at a young age had instilled within her a certain sense of always looking for the next big thing. She was an adrenaline junkie, up-beat, carefree and reckless. As though all that wasn't bad enough, once she was old enough she had the nasty habit of taking off when her grandparents weren't paying attention to hitchhike her way to see her father at various events. Simply put, Emma was becoming a bit of a hellion.
She probably could have done anything with her life, but she had gotten the idea in her head some time when she was very young that she wanted to be just like her father. She wanted to do what he did. She knew, with every fiber of her being, that the business that kept her from growing up close to her father was where she wanted to make a name for herself, and not just because her father had done it, but also because it seemed to be a challenge. This drive, combined with the fact that her rebellious streak was putting her grandparents through their paces influenced George's eventual decision to retire from wrestling actively. Sure, there was also the fact that he had spent a number of years in the business and wanted to retire before making a right fool of himself by dragging out his time in the spotlight. But, he didn't abandon the business that made him who he was.
In fact, if nothing else, retiring from the business has served to only further enmesh George Chase in wrestling. His small personal fortune has been channeled into running a promotion out of Vancouver, managed by his son. Since founding the promotion, George has sought to help young talent break into the business and train to their full potential. Running the promotion with his son has also helped to salvage their relationship and he would like to think that the time spent with his daughter has put her back on the right track.
If he can't stop her from wrestling then the least he can do is make sure she's at the top of her game. Training under her father's watchful eye for several years, she first debuted with his promotion, Vancouver Premier Wrestling, at age nineteen, quickly winning her first championship title in their women's division. Since competing in her first match for George's promotion, Emma has gone on to wrestle for ALF, Greater Canadian Wrestling and several other promotions, holding titles in hardcore, tag team and women's divisions.
